time to get lost in a book...

I know right now, many artists and friends are out of work, cooped up, and anxious because of COVID-19. We could panic. We could also use this time to learn, grow, read, listen, and lean into why we are artists in the first place. When I need to escape a bit, I find the most solace in books. For all you bookworms out there, here are my suggestions if you need a Coronavirus coping tool.

Biographies/Autobiographies:

This Time Together - Carol Burnett

Haben - Haben Girma

The Sun Does Shine - Anthony Ray Hinton

The Good Neighbor: the Life and Work of Fred Rogers - Maxwell King (audiobook is read by Lavar Burton…highly suggest this route)

Fiction

City of Girls - Elizabeth Gilbert

Becoming Mrs. Lewis - (historical fiction) Patti Callahan Henry

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine - Gail Honeyman

The Silence Between Us - Alison Gervais

Books that have taught me the most…on listening, leadership, belovedness, and creativity.

The Person You Mean to Be - Dolly Chugh

Dare to Lead - Brene Brown

The Infinite Game - Simon Sinek

Linchpin - Seth Godin

A Return to Love - Marianne Williamson

Big Magic - Elizabeth Gilbert

Let me know if you give any of these a read or a listen. Fun fact, most libraries have eBook and Audiobook programs, so if you have a library card, you are set to read as much as you can WITHOUT LEAVING HOME through this uncharted time. I am sending you all so much love.
